Collection Selena

Selena was the Moon Goddess in Mesopotamian culture.

Relationship with the fabrics in the collection: The metal most associated with the Moon (and linked to the female personality) in classical symbolism is silver. (e.g. shiny silk silver velvets printed with metallic lacquers and inspired by grand ornamental damasks)

By comparison, we find golden tones (gold is the symbol of sunlight, the astrological sun is also linked to the male personality) in different versions: richly embroidered silks with floral and vegetation motifs, a profusion of smooth velvets printed with tiny classic motifs, a variety of jacquards…

Style: It could be defined as rich and luxurious, without ever seeming ostentatious.

In general the designs are closely related to motifs inspired by the art and decor of the Baroque and Renaissance epochs: a variety of printed velvets and jacquards with Kashmir and Paisley patterns, satins, waffle velvet etc
